'Merica
Painting Details:
24″ x 48″, acrylic, 1.5″ gallery-wrapped canvas
Description:
I painted this during the election month, while hearing all of the intense division among people surrounding their candidates. It was seemingly more hate than I’ve ever seen during an election.
The flag is distressed because so many people are in distress. It’s threads weakened and colors, challenged. But the Eagle, our majestic symbol of strength, hovers above, covering us with its’ powerful wings. Ever reminding us that we have been through hard times before.
Civil wars, depression, oppression, bread lines, gas lines, discrimination, unrest of every kind.
United we stand.
Divided we fall.
We are America, land of the free, home of the brave.
And there light behind the Eagle.
We are: One nation under God, INDIVISIBLE, with liberty and justice for ALL.
We are ‘Merica.
